HALMAHERA, Indonesia – The Dukono volcano, located in Indonesia's northern Halmahera in the North Maluku province, erupted today, spewing a dense plume of volcanic ash up to 3,000 meters above its peak. Sarjan Roboke, an official from the Dukono Volcano Monitoring Authority, confirmed that the ash plume moved westward and northwestward, with significant density recorded. The volcano, standing 1,335 meters above sea level, also triggered a series of seismic tremors during the eruption. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as Indonesia sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region prone to frequent volcanic activity and earthquakes. Residents and visitors in the area are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on alerts from local authorities.
